LinkedIn profiles, CVs and PDFs: what to save

LinkedIn profiles, CVs and PDFs: what to save - AI & Technology

Attach a CV without losing the profile

A LinkedIn profile can create an initial record; a CV may add different details. If you already have the file, upload it through the extension's supported flow and associate it with the candidate. Check that it is the right document and that the profile preview describes the same person.

An attachment does not replace verification. After import, compare differences between the CV role and profile role. Preserve the document's source and complete only fields supported by it. For subsequent work, use the candidate record and its relationships.

When a LinkedIn profile PDF is useful

You do not have to download a PDF for every candidate before saving them in Hice. When you need a profile copy and LinkedIn offers downloading in your interface, download it from the profile and attach it to the candidate. Downloading and uploading remain user actions.

A PDF is a snapshot of information available at that moment rather than a guarantee of freshness. Avoid using it as the only archive: your database should let you find the person, update notes and track different searches. Distinguish a directly received CV from a PDF copy of the profile.

    What information enters the record

Saving uses information available in the profile you are viewing. Email and phone numbers are not invented or discovered behind hidden fields. When absent, those fields remain empty; you can complete them later from a valid source.

Check information that changes, including current employer, role, location and availability. Capturing a profile does not establish that someone is seeking work or wants an offer. For subsequent work, preserve the relationship context and distinguish observed information from your own assessment.

Check duplicates before adding a person

Hice checks record identity and can reject a new save when it detects a duplicate, for example the same LinkedIn profile or an email already recorded. Matching names need attention: identical names do not prove that two records describe the same person.

When a warning appears, find the existing record and check company, source and contact details. Complete that record rather than changing the name to bypass the check. When evaluating software, examine how duplicates are identified and handled rather than assuming every incomplete identity can be recognized.
